School Vision
Courageous learners,
Caring people.
From the Principal
Dear parents and caregivers,
This term has been incredibly productive and fun with lots of events along the way. The students and staff have been working industriously to complete their work for the school year. Teachers are tirelessly writing their students’ reports. I can’t believe that there is less than 4 weeks of the school year remaining. The students finish the school year on Thursday 14th December 2023.
Students leaving at the end of this year
We are working to finalise the process of planning classes and classroom structures for next year. If your child will be leaving Madeley Primary by the end of 2023, please advise the school office as soon as possible. Thank you.
Reports
Student Reports will be emailed home on Monday 11th December. Please ensure that your email and contact details are up to date, through the front office, to enable you to receive your child’s report. Please remember to download your child’s reports to your home computer.
School Board Meeting
On Wednesday 29th Dec at 5:30pm we are holding an open School Board meeting. All interested parents are welcome to attend to find out more about how the School Board operates.
P & C meeting
Our final P & C Meeting is on Wednesday 29th Nov at 7:30pm. We would love to see some new faces, please note that all parents and carers are welcome.
ASC Transition
Our Yr 6 students are undertaking their transition days in Week 8. We wish them all the very best for an enjoyable transition. This provides a wonderful opportunity to get to know the environment, expectations and routines of ASC to allow students to feel more confident with the move to the secondary college next year.
AQWA Camp
The Year 4 students had a wonderful time at the AQWA Camp. We thank the students for their fantastic behaviour at the camp. I would like to also make special mention of the staff for their time taken away from their own families to provide this amazing experience for our students. Thank you also to the parent helpers that made themselves available to assist.
Early Arrivers
Please remember students are not to be arriving at school before 8.00am. All students who are at school before the classroom doors open at 8.20am MUST wait at the office being supervised by school staff, even if waiting with a parent.
Student Leaders 2024 speeches
This week, our current Year 5 students seeking leadership roles in the school next year, presented their speeches. All prospective leaders presented fantastic speeches and should be so proud of their efforts. The successful candidates for the leadership roles 2024 will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on Wed 13th Dec. Parents of the successful candidates will be notified prior to Friday 8th Dec. It is unfortunate that there are limited leadership positions each year even though there are many worthy candidates.
Our current Student Leaders 2023
As a thank you for all of the hard work of our current leaders, we treat them to a beautiful breakfast at the end of the year. We really appreciate all of their hard work and leadership at Madeley PS.
Have a great weekend everyone.

St John's Incursion
First Aid Schools Program
St John Ambulance Australia visited our school this week. They are committed to promoting the importance of first aid in the community and believe that there is no better place to start than in our schools. Every child in Australia should have access to vital first aid knowledge and with the First Aid in Schools program this is possible.
The First Aid Schools Program is a FREE program run by St John Ambulance Australia providing basic first aid training to school students across all states and territories in Australia.
Madeley Cup
The winner for this year was THUNDER!
The Madeley Cup was held on Melbourne Cup Day. The Madeley Cup is a novelty horse race between factions, staff and parents and is intended to be a bit of fun. There were six horses in the race (4 faction representatives, 1 parent and 1 staff member). It is a game of “chance” where each rider moves depending on the number rolled on the large dice. It was a lot of fun with the whole school watching the event in their faction colours and cheering on their jockey.
Congratulations to Thunder for winning the Madeley Cup for the first time in Madeley Cup history.
The Jungle Book Production
Performances of our musical production are fast approaching!
Tickets are on sale through Qkr! App
The jungle is jumpin' with a jazzy beat in Disney's The Jungle Book KIDS. Specially adapted from the classic Disney animated film, this musical play features a cast of 42 Madeley Primary School performers, a host of colourful characters and your favourite songs from the movie.
Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, a human boy named Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run in the deepest parts of the jungle. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin' musical rhythms of the jungle. After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle.
Constable Care Incursion
This week the students learned about protective behaviours, cyber safety, and social media - and Constable Care and Sarge were given a lovely drawing from a student who was very excited to see them!
Year 4 AQWA Camp
Year 4 AQWA Camp
by Monika Stevens
At camp the first thing we did when we got there we put our bags down at the front of the door inside and then went to the cafe and waited for everyone to come inside too. When everyone was inside the volunteers from AQWA introduced themselves.
After they introduced themselves we all had dinner, we had pizza, dinosaur nuggets and chips. When we had finished our dinner we did three rotation activities - a tour of the aquarium, organising our beds and making badges. After we did the rotations we got ourselves ready into our pjs and brushed our teeth and watched the movie Finding Dory. When the movie was done we went to bed in the underwater tunnel with all the sharks, fish, turtles and stingrays.
The next morning one of the volunteers said an announcement to make us wake up. When everyone woke up, we all packed up our mattresses, got into our clothes and put our stuff at the front door. Then we went in the cafe to eat breakfast. After breakfast we went outside to the touch pool and we all got to touch the sharks and starfish.
Then we split into 2 groups and walked to the beach. One group went to the surf lifesaving tower and played games on the beach and the other group went onto the marine rescue boats.
After those activities we walked to Whitfords Nodes Park and we played with some equipment and on the playground while we waited for our Subway lunch. After that we went back onto the beach where we weeded the sand dunes and went looking for items that were on the sand. Finally we walked back to AQWA and then our parents took us home.

A Healthy Lunchbox
Healthy lunches and snacks are important for keeping active kids alert and focused and providing them with the nutrition they need every day.
A healthy lunch box should include:
- Fruit – at least one serve of fresh seasonal fruit. If you don’t have fresh fruit, canned (in natural juice) is a good substitute. Dried fruit is high in sugar and should be avoided
- Vegetables – vegetable sticks, salads or a mix of raw (with dip) or grilled vegetables
- Dairy – one serve of milk, yoghurt or cheese supports optimal growth and development in children. If your child can’t tolerate dairy provide a suitable alternative.
- Protein – lean meat or poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, legumes/beans, or nuts and seeds.
- Grain foods – wholegrain and high fibre varieties are best.
- Water – the best drink to keep children hydrated.
Remember, children who help plan and prepare their own lunch are more likely to eat it. Your child might like to try out this fun, ‘Interactive Lunchbox’ website: www.goforyourlife.vic.gov.au/hav/articles.nsf/html/index.html
