School Vision
Courageous learners,
Caring people.
From the Principal
Dear parents and carers,
I can’t believe how quickly the year has flown by. It has been an incredibly productive year with lots of achievements to be proud of. I would like to congratulate all staff and students for a successful year and thank all parents for their contributions and support to our school community.
Thank you also to our dedicated School Board and School Board Chairperson, Mr Matthew White as well as the amazing work of the P & C led by President, Mr Joseph Madafferi. We are so fortunate to have such a supportive and engaged school community who give up their time to support and assist our school in achieving the aims set out in our Business Plan. There is very strong research evidence stating that students whose parents are involved in their schooling, have better educational outcomes. I encourage you, where possible, to get involved with the school community, parent help, events and activities.
Jungle Book Production
Wow! What an amazing event this was. A very large congratulations to all the students involved be it on or off the stage. It was such an impressive performance for such a young cast and crew. A big thank you goes out to our amazing Performing Arts teacher Mr Townsager, and to all of the staff and parents who assisted him throughout rehearsals and in the development of the stage, costumes and props. The feedback from the community was outstanding and we are all looking forward to finding out what the next show will be.
School Reports
School Reports will be emailed out on the afternoon of Monday 11th December. Please ensure that your email and contact details are up to date at the office to enable you to receive them on the day. Please note that the link sent to you will only be valid for two weeks so please ensure that you download the reports within this time.

In addition, we wish Ms Bee Visser, Mr Andrew Eddison and Mrs Jennifer Wheeler all the very best for their year of leave coming up. We thank Mr Malland for his time at Madeley PS this year.

We took the leaders to a celebratory breakfast on Monday to congratulate and thank them for a job well done. Our Student Leaders for 2024 will be announced at the Awards Ceremony next week.
Madeley’s Got Talent
We were witness to some sensational performances by our students at Madeley’s Got Talent on Wednesday. Congratulations to all performers, from those who auditioned to those who performed on the day, as they were all very impressive performers. A very big thank you to Ms Hardwick and Mr Townsager who have dedicated countless hours to auditioning and rehearsing all acts for the show.
The winners were:
1st Place: William Blair
2nd Place: Eve Patterson
3rd Place: Christian Madafferi and Jason Searson
Classes 2024
Next year, to enable a warm welcome to the start of the school year, we will be holding a Meet and Greet with classroom teachers. On Tuesday 30 Jan 2024 from 2pm – 3pm, we welcome all parents and students to come along to a meet and greet with their new class teacher and unpack their belongings. Please bring along students’ stationery and booklist items to assist them to set up for Day 1 and allow the teachers to welcome and get to know their students. Please note that class lists can only be viewed from 2pm onwards, not before this time.
Later that afternoon, we will post class lists on Connect. Upon posting on Connect, we ask that parents do not repost this information to social media or any other location, as this is private information and not for general circulation.
At 2pm, we invite parents and students to view class lists and then attend their Meet & Greet. The class lists will be available at the following locations:
Year level | Location of class lists |
Kindy/PP | ECE Playground |
Yr 1 | LLA Alcove |
Yr 2 | Left side of the front of Library |
Yr 3 | GLA Alcove |

School Security During the Holidays
We rely on the community for support to keep our school secure and safe during the holiday period. Parents are asked to keep an eye on our school during the holiday period and report any suspicious behaviour to Education Security on 9264 4632 or Police 131 444. The Education Security phone number is on signage on the school fencing also.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our staff, students, parents and the wider community a very happy and safe Christmas and holiday season. We all look forward to seeing you all again in 2024.
Kind regards

Robotics Competition
On Wednesday the 15th of November Madeley’s two robotics teams competed in the FIRST LEGO League Competition at Aveley Secondary College. Brick Code and Brick Legends showed great resilience and determination throughout the day as they overcame challenges and celebrated their successes. At the end of the competition our Brick Code team were recognised as Rising All-Stars, a team to watch out for, and our Brick Legends team have moved through to the Regional Finals at Curtin University on December 9.
Year 5 Night Sky Incursion
Our annual Year 5 Night Sky evening was once again a huge hit.
Year 5 students and their families headed back to school from 6.30pm for a picnic dinner and then a tour of the sky on Friday 1st December.
We were joined by the head astronomer of the Gravity Discovery Centre, Rick. Rick talked us through the things we would see, engrossing everyone with his knowledge and information. Then it was out to the oval to look through the 3 telescopes where we got to see Saturn, Jupiter and 4 of its moons, the Seven Sisters and Orion’s Nebular.
There were plenty of amazed children and parents when they looked through the telescopes.
Thanks to all who attended.
The Jungle Book Production
A Cast and Crew of 45 donned their costumes and shined brightly under the limelight for three magical performances across 2 days! After almost 2 whole terms of rehearsals, the students could not wait to grace the stage and show their stuff! The undercover area was transformed into a theatrical experience this school has never seen before and those who were fortunate enough to witness it exclaimed they could not believe what they were seeing!"

School Chaplain
Hello from the School Chaplain,
Hi mums, dads, carers, grandparents and staff,
I would like to say a big thank you for making me feel very welcome here at Madeley Primary School.
I have been here for two terms and have loved meeting you and your children as you enter the school each day. I have really enjoyed it, as it a very new career move for me. The children have been delightful, and I have loved building relationships with some of them. I have also really learnt a lot from them. It’s certainly tested my memory, (hehe) remembering names. Oh my gosh.
To all the Year 6s, what an amazing, smart, funny, crazy, talented, raw bunch you are. I have so enjoyed meeting and chatting with so many of you. You are all an incredible group of children with so many gifts and talents. As you take the next step in your journey in life, may you always remember, you each are very unique individuals and you were created that way, so don’t try to be like anyone else. Just be you, and like the person you are. Enjoy your high school years, it’s only a small part of your life. Pick your friends wisely, don’t sweet the small stuff, enjoy learning and having fun with friends that could turn into lifetime friends.
So really looking forward to next year.
Have a very blessed Christmas and New Year,
Keep safe and be kind to one another.
Yours Sincerely,
Tania Malloch

We all love being part of this P&C, we have said it before, we are a community within a community, for those who may look to become more involved in an office bearer role in the coming years please allow yourself some time in the new year to come to our meetings and see for yourself just how wonderful the people are that attend and run them. We can assure you, the fun and collaboration between everyone is truly a wonderful experience, and its a great way to see what is needed for each role. For those that also want to have a voice as a member of our community without a formal role, then this is really where the best ideas come from to benefit all our children within the school and we want nothing more than to see more and more people getting involved and hear from those so we can all help shape a better future for our community.
Please keep and eye out for our last few posts this year on our Facebook page with some great info to wrap up the year.
On behalf on the P&C we say thank you again, and we hope you and your entire families have a safe festive season, may it be filled with love and laughter.

School Nurse
Screen Time
Children and adolescents should not spend more than two hours a day on screen based activities. Excessive screen time often leads to poor health, poor fitness and overweight.
Activities like surfing the net, social networking, watching TV and playing screen games can be educational and fun, but all involve sitting still for long periods of time. Set family rules around screen time and encourage your child to try a range of active pastimes, especially during daylight hours.
