It is hard to believe we are already at the end of Week 3, Term 2. We started the term with our ANZAC Service, which was once again well supported by our parents and wider community. We would like to thank Mrs Chester and the student leaders for their planning and presentation of such a lovely and respectful service.
This is going to be a busy 11 week term, encompassing the Year 5/6 Lightning Carnial, swimming lessons, various excursions, incursions, school photos, Faction Cross Country and of course school reports. Please check the School Calendar for all these imortant dates.
Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons will be held in Weeks 8 & 9 of this term and will commence on Tuesday 4th June, after the WA Day long weekend, concluding on the 14th June. Please keep an eye out for the notes regarding this coming home shortly.
Voluntary Contributions and Charges 2024
A very big thank you to all parents who have paid their contributions and charges. This funding supports the purchase of school resources for all learning areas as well as the library. To be in the running for a $200 prize, please make your payments by 8th May. Prize winners will be announced shortly.
Walk Safely to School Day
Active kids are healthy kids! Walk Safely to School Day will be held on Friday 10th May this year. We encourage all families to support this initiative in walking with their children to school for the day.
Students Arriving Late
Any students arriving late after the siren at 8.35am must report to the office so they can be checked off as present. If this is not done, parents will receive an SMS informing them of their child’s absence.
Uniforms
As the days are getting colder and our students begin wearing warmer clothing, we would like to remind families that winter jackets need to be either the Madeley Uniform navy fleece jacket or a plain navy jacket, free of any labels or logos. Plain navy blue leggings or track pants can be worn on the bottom. The Madeley Primary School uniform can be purchased from Wanneroo Uniforms. Further details of our dress code and uniform shop hours can be found on our website.
Money
I would like to remind parents that children should only be bringing money to school for canteen purchases, or for fundraising ventures within the school which will be advertised through the school newsletter and SeeSaw notices.
Parking
As the weather starts changing we are seeing more parents driving to collect their children from school. The safety of our students is critical to us at MPS. Safe and legal parking is an ongoing issue at our school; therefore we remind all parents to please do the right thing by driving and parking safely and legally around our school. Kiss-and-Drive bays are not for parking and should be vacated as quickly as possible to maintain the flow of traffic. Parking in the staff car park, disabled bays or on pathways or grass around the school is illegal and results in damage to our reticulation, safety concerns, as well as damaged cars. Please be patient and wait until a car bay becomes available.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Lainie Beccegato
Principal

ANZAC Ceremony
Our Anzac service was held on Wednesday 24th April to commemorate 109 years since the Gallipoli campaign. The ceremony was proudly led by our Year 6 student leaders.
This year we were fortunate to have Mrs Deidre Walker from the Wanneroo RSL as our guest speaker. During the ceremony the school wreath was placed at the flagpole along with a purple poppy wreath that was placed by one of our student leaders to acknowledge all the animals for their service to our country. Following the flag procession student leaders released beautiful white doves into the sky as a symbol of hope and peace for the future.

Teeth are important possessions. Here are some tips for keeping them healthy. • Clean teeth, gums and tongue at least twice a day with a soft toothbrush. Parents should supervise tooth brushing until children are 8 or 9 years old as children do not have the dexterity to brush the molars properly until then. • Adults and children should use a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste. Toothpaste should be spat out after brushing and never eaten or swallowed. Do not rinse your mouth out with water after brushing your teeth. • Rinse your toothbrush thoroughly after brushing and store it hygienically. Replace your toothbrush regularly. • Older children and adults should floss their teeth daily. • Eating and drinking healthily is important for keeping your teeth healthy – try to keep away from too much sugar, especially between meals.
