Madeley On The Green: We are very excited to have our annual event held again this year, being held this Saturday 5th April. Holding our event on a Saturday aids the set-up of the event, with minimal impact on the student’s school day. I would really like to acknowledge our amazing P & C, who all worked so tirelessly to make this event happen each year. Thanks also to all the sponsors and volunteers on the night who help in so many ways to create a wonderful evening for all. We look forward to seeing our community members enjoying the festivities on what will be a wonderful night!
Parent Interviews: Thank you to all the parents who came along and attended our Parent Interviews Day yesterday. It was a great success again this year, with very positive feedback from parents.
ANZAC Day Service: As ANZAC Day falls in the holidays, we will be holding our ANZAC Service on Thursday 10th April, prior to the break. This will commence at 9.00am and we welcome all families to attend.
Leading Cultures of Teaching Excellence: At Madelely PS, we believe that great teaching is at the heart of every successful learning journey. That’s why we’re proud to be participating in the Leading Cultures of Teaching Excellence (LCoTE) program – a powerful professional learning initiative designed to build a high-performance and development culture. This is a 3 year long program consisting of 3 Tiers of support, with our school currently participating in Tier 1.
Parking: Our students’ safety is our primary concern. Therefore, safe and legal parking around our school continues to be an ongoing concern. We kindly remind all parents to do the right thing by driving and parking safely and legally around our school. Kiss-and-Drive bays are not for parking and should be vacated as quickly as possible to maintain the flow of traffic. However, they can be parked in between 9:30am – 2:20pm. Parking in the driveway of the Pre-Primary car park and on pathways is illegal and parking on the grassed areas surrounding parking areas is also not permitted as it results in safety concerns. Please be patient and wait until a car bay becomes available. Patience, kindness and respect are all virtues we need to model when driving and parking around our school. We thank you for your consideration.
Uniforms: We would like to remind all students that jewellery is not to be worn to school – this means no necklaces, rings, or earrings other than studs or sleepers. We have been noticing very short shorts on the girls and remind students that all shorts be mid-thigh length – no shorter.
School Development Day: Term 2 will see out School Development Day held on Friday 30th May, backed on to WA Day Monday holiday making it an extra-long weekend.
School Security During the Holidays: We rely on the community for support to keep our school secure and safe during the holiday period. Parents are asked to keep an eye on our school during the holiday period and report any suspicious behaviour to Education Security on 9264 4632 or Police 131 444. The Education Security phone number is also on signage around the outside of the school fencing.
I hope all families enjoy a wonderful school holiday break. We look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 28th April, 2025.

CYBER SAFETY
Navigating the digital and technological world is both exciting and challenging for students and their carers (parents, guardians, educators). It creates opportunities for incredible learning experiences, social connections and entertainment, but it also comes with risks like cyberbullying, exposure to inappropriate content and screen addiction.
It can be a challenge for carers to keep on top of these risks, when the digital and technological landscape is constantly changing, and at an unprecedented speed. It can often leave carers feeling overwhelmed and helpless.
I’d like to bring to your attention, an app that can help with navigating this space. Beacon: Cyber Safety was developed by The Kids Research Institute Australia in partnership with Dolly’s Dream and the Australian Government’s eSafety Commissioner. The purpose of this app is to provide accurate, up-to-date and evidence-based support to carers, that empowers them to protect and raise digitally responsible young people.
Beacon: Cyber Safety provides articles and videos backed by the latest research, tailored content and alerts, an interactive and personalised family agreement template and how to access help and support services. This app is free to download.
On Friday 21/3/25, Madeley Primary School celebrated Harmony Day, a special day where we embrace inclusivity, respect, and a sense of belonging for all. Harmony Day is about celebrating Australia’s cultural diversity and reminding us that everyone belongs—no matter where we come from, what language we speak, or what traditions we follow. It was great to see all the children in their cultural or orange clothing at Run Club. Special thanks to Mrs Vague for organising the beautiful art installation with so many students represented.

Anaphylaxis - What Is It?
Anaphylaxis is the most severe form of allergic reaction and can be life threatening. For people at risk, anaphylaxis occurs quickly after contact to the food, insect’s or medicine to which the person is allergic.
It is very important that people at risk of anaphylaxis avoid any contact with the trigger (allergen). This is especially important with food allergy – a severe reaction can occur if the allergic person comes into contact with even a tiny amount of the food.
Anaphylaxis must always be treated as a medical emergency. Adrenaline autoinjectors (EpiPen®) contain a single, fixed dose of adrenaline which must be given to the person as soon as possible. Immediate administration of adrenaline is the only treatment that works for anaphylaxis.
Emergency first aid for anaphylaxis
Lay the person flat, do not stand or If breathing is difficult, allow to sit.
Give the adrenaline autoinjector without (Make a note of the time it was given.)
Ring an ambulance -
Stay with and reassure the Do not allow the person to walk at any time.
Give another adrenaline autoinjector if no improvement after 5 minutes
If the person loses consciousness and there are no signs of breathing, begin
Monitoring in a hospital is required for 4-6 hours, even if symptoms
Anaphylaxis - Recognising A Severe Allergic Reaction
Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction which can be life-threatening. It can cause constriction of the airway and/or a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Look for one or more of the following:
Difficult or noisy breathing
Swelling of the tongue
Swelling or tightness of the throat
Wheezing or a persistent cough
Difficult talking and/or a hoarse voice
Persistent dizziness or collapse
Pale and floppy (especially in young children)
Abdominal pain or vomiting (if following an insect bite or sting)
It is important to lie the person flat and get help fast.
Some allergic reactions are mild or moderate. These reactions may involve hives, welts, tingling mouth, and/or swelling of the lips, face and eyes. Mild reactions to food can involve abdominal pain and vomiting. Anaphylaxis (severe reaction) may or may not involve these signs and symptoms.
Food intolerances are not life-threatening and should not be confused with food allergies. For further information contact:
